Sib. 7.5: Harp Pedal Diagrams manually?
Posted by Pilotone Music - 01 Oct 09:18PM
I need to insert harp pedal diagrams and I tried out the plug-Ins called "Harp Gliss from Pedal Diagram" (in Batch Processing), as well as "Add Harp Pedaling." But the resulting diagram does not match the orchestral harmonies the harp is nested in. Is there something I'm overlooking in making choices for the notes diagrammed? I don't want the notes spelled out, just a correctly spelled diagram.

Thanks for your thoughts!
Beth

You can create your own diagrams using Opus Text font. The four characters needed are upper case L, M, N & O.
L = pedal up (flat)
M = pedal middle (natural)
N = pedal down (sharp)
O = left/right divider.

You can do this using Technique and selecting Opus Text font from the Text/Format tab, or create a new dedicated text style with appropriate name if you need to do a lot, or you can simply edit the plug-in diagrams using these characters (don't forget to use upper case).

Hope this helps.

Adrian, that is awesome. I would never have figured that one out. I easily created my own diagrams as instructed, but I was not able to edit the plug-in diagrams (and I did remember upper case). When I selected a diagram for editing, the font menu said I was now in Opus Standard. When that didn't work, I switched to Opus Text, but still no luck. What am I missing there?

Also, how would I create a new dedicated text style? I searched around and didn't come up with anything. But being able to create my own diagram works fine if nothing else.

Thanks so much, Adrian!

Hmm, seems to work OK for me. The plug-in diagrams are just text objects. When you double klik on one, you get a the text caret. Single characters can be deleted and replaced with new ones.

You can create a New style in 'Text/Edit text styles' based on Technique, change the font to Opus Text and give the style a new name, say "Harp Diagrams".

Glad I could help.

Cheers, A.
