I've had problems with this for a long time, staccatos will not sound consistently (although will sometimes sound after restarting Sib) also falls and doits are sounding after the note as a separate item.

Can anyone help, please? I'd also like to hear from anyone else with similar problems (see attached file).

I'm running an Imac, 3.4gig i7 mountain lion, 12gig ram.

The test score plays back here just fine in respect of the staccatos, so there might be an issue with sound playback on your machine.

What sample library were you using for playback?

If the sample library is one of the "Sibelius 7 Sounds" configurations, then you should ensure that Sibelius 7 Sounds are completely and correctly installed. The size of the folder:
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius Sounds/Sibelius 7 Sounds
should be 34.3 GB: any different from that means that the sample library is not correctly installed.

In the standard "Sibelius 7 Sounds" configuration, there are no falls or doits for the standard trumpets and trombones: they become available only with configuration "Sibelius 7 Sounds (Jazz)".

You might find a modest improvement using playback performance setting "meccanico" instead of "espressivo".

I hear the staccatos correctly, but I agree that the falls and doits sound a little detached.

On further investigation, there is a problem with staccatos in the Baritone Sax, where staccato notes are silent on certain pitches, and play normally on certain other pitches.

I can't fault the brass staccatos, though.

Thanks Robin, I'm using Sib Sounds jazz config mainly but have found staccato problems also with the standard sib sounds orchestral. The difficulty is, the problem seems to be intermittant. The sib sounds folder is showing 36.85gig and was installed directly from the original disc.
