Hi all, 1. When notating a song - I placed a "RIT." over a certain bar to slow that bar down which in the PLAY BACK works great. HOWEVER - it would not respond to an "ATEMPO" when placing over the next bar (to get back to the original tempo), nor would it respond to placing the original metronome mark I placed at the start. How do you correct it?
I got Sib. V.6.1

2.How do you change the number of staves MID song?

Create Menu>Instruments

You can add/remove extra instruments, and/or staves via the Create Menu>Instruments. Then enter all the notes where you want them in the new staves, and triple-click on that staff to select it throughout the score, and choose Layout>Hide Empty Staves."

This will add what youve chosen from the beginning of the score, but then hide it.

Thanks very much, Bob for your input. I've read your guidance carefully & tried implementing those steps, but to no avail still...
I'm wondering - by downloading the upgrade of sib.6.2.1 HALF WAY through my notation of the song - could that be a potential problem??
Also, I've tried the Rit. & it works BUT again - when trying (1 bar later) to get back to ATEMPO - using the original metronome mark - it stays annoyingly at the RIT. tempo in playback through the rest of the score. I went to the plugins & toyed with the TEMPO's 1st option- but couldn't get it to do anything. By the way - what is the mm mark?
How do you hide a metronome mark?

You can finish that song in 6.1 but then upgrade to 6.2.1 as it does have bug fixes, etc

In that thread I quoted:

As Bob has said, you need to ensure that the handle at the end of the rit line is before the mm mark. I usually (in Sib 6 because Sib 7.5 doesn't usually need it) place the mm in the same text object as the "A Tempo" - eg "A Tempo ~q=120" (The crotchet symbol is created by either right clicking while typing in Tempo text, or by pressing [ctrl] and the 4 on the number pad - if you have one.)

I can't remember if you can show the handles in Sib 6 - check the manual.

It may be insufficient reason to upgrade to the latest Sibelius 7.51, but 'a tempo' would then work. You'd still need a tidy end to the rit line though.

Don't think in terms of adding staves at a certain point, but of having them all from the beginning but hiding some until needed.
