I have tried to restart rehearsal marks at the letter P. What I got was the letter U1...

Please attach a Sibelius .sib score which demonstrates the issue, with instructions on how to reproduce it.

Do you mean that you want to replace P with another series such as A1, A2; or I, II, II etc?
Or continue alphabetically after P? Of course the next bar selected for the rehearsal mark should then show Q?
If that doesn't happen, delete P and reset the rehearsal mark at that bar and see what you get.
