So I have this score that I attached thats in C# minor. However, in the transposing instruments, such as the trumpets, its showing the key as D# minor, with 6 sharps.
As a trumpet player myself, I find it hard to read it that way, and would prefer to read it in Eb minor (I prefer flats, and I think the others in the marching band would agree.) Is there a way to change it to display the trumpet key as Eb minor instead of D# minor?
You need to create another instrument for trumpet in A#. Select the trumpet staff and go to Edit Instruments. Select New Instrument and answer Yes. Under Transposing score, change Bb to A#. Change name in Dialogs to Trumpet in A#. OK & Close. Now in the score make an Instrument change to your new A# trumpet. Your trumpet part now has lots of lovely flats instead of sharps.
Do the same for your clarinets & tenor saxes in A#. Your Eb instruments look OK as Sibelius has already given them 5 flats instead of 7 sharps.
