Sib. 7.5: What does this mean?
Posted by NickG - 01 Sep 02:13PM
When I do a normal copy of several measures from one document to another, then in the copied document I select a measure and hit "S" to slur the notes I sometimes get this pop up (see attachment). I don't understand it. I check all the boxes to view everything and I can't understand what's not in view.

The message is pretty clear, isn't it? You're creating a new object, and it's going to be created next to the current selection, i.e. the thing you already have selected, and the thing you have selected is not in view, i.e. you can't see it. So it's asking you, "Do you want me to move the score on the screen so that you can see where this object is going to be created? Or do you want to create the object here instead?"

It's in case you have e.g. a note selected, then scroll somewhere else in the score, then hit (say) Command-T to add Technique text. Sibelius always creates the text next to the selected note, but the selected note is now out of view, so it asks you: do you want to create the object where the selected note is, or do you instead want to click to place the object?"

Thanks Bob

Yep, I often get this message, even when the selected object *is* in view. Seems like Sib needs a pair of eyeglasses ;-)
