Sib. 6.x: Avoid rests being regrouped when inputting notes
Posted by Thielecomposer - 01 Sep 10:27AM
Hey everyone,

I'm currently working on a score in space notation which has proved tricky in many ways. I figured out a way to do it by making each second (in time) one 9/32 bar, which I divided into 9x 32nd-rest which I then hid. Thus I can input notes freely on a 32nd-grid.
Here's the problem: Each time I input a not anywhere, Sibelius rewrites the rests after that note in the bar so that they're not all 32nd rests anymore (some 26th and 8th rests pop up). That means I have to split them up again afterwards.
I want to be able to reach every 32nd note in a bar (yes, with the mouse) at all times. Is there a way to that?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Cheers
Sascha

Found a workaround:
Under Preferences->Mouse You have the Option to make it stick to a 32nds-grid.

Still it would be cool to know how to keep Sibelius from rewriting rests when inputting notes ;)

I think that was the main thing that attracted me to buying Sib. You plant a note and Sib does all the cleaning up after you. BTW, jus' wondering what a 26th rest looks like (your first post) ;-)

Yeah usually that's perfect but Sibelius also advertises with being very adjustable and applicable to unusual notation. So turning of Auto-Layout in parts would be pretty helpful at times.

And 26th rests are my secret. They have a very special feel to them ;-P
