Sib. 7.1.3: Grand staff arpeggio signs?
Posted by Seann Alderking - 30 Aug 06:27AM
Has anyone created a workaround and/or some sort of plugin that would solve the issue of stretching arpeggio signs over two staves? This is frequently an issue in keyboard music, and even though I can grab the line manually and stretch it, this takes time, and doesn't "stick" to the actual chord -- meaning that the moment something changes layout wise on the rest of the page it tends to mess up the arpeggio line placement/length.

(And yes, I'm using the line from the 5th keypad)...

I'm afraid that 5th keypad is your best option. It only works on one staff at a time. Playback-wise you need to write a second whole arp all in a single staff in voice 2, hide it, and kill play on pass on the visible voice 1 arp. Part-wise, check that formatting is correct before printing.

Pls see the following--neither exactly addresses your question, but they might help in other ways.

http://www.rpmseattle.com/of_note/easy-automated-arpeggios-in-sibelius-6-7/

"If you need the line to extend across a grand staff, can drag either end of the line to change its length. Tip – when extending the length of the arpeggio line by dragging across a grand staff, start the arpeggio in the staff with the the most accidentals – that way, the line will be properly placed to avoid any collisions across the grand staff."

Hi there

Yes, as you say, the arpeggio line doesn't know about the staff you drag it to, so you should either add it to the staff that has the widest conglomeration of accidentals, and drag it to the other, or simply drag it left until it clears the accidentals on the other staff.

Your chords are ridiculous, by the way. :-)

Jeremy"

Thanks Bob

PS Also you mention nothing about playback, but this plugin is the one to use for "to play back an arpeggio in one or more voices and on one or more staves."

Right... I knew about the playback plugin, but as this is for publication I only really care about the way it looks ;-)

I was hoping there might be a way to automate the stretching of the arpeggio lines, and get them to stick to the stave and notes they have been stretched to... but this seems unfortunately not possible... bummer.
