Sib. 7.5: Looking for Better Strings
Posted by Steve Rampley - 29 Aug 09:29PM
I hope this is an appropriate venue for my question. I am looking for more realistic strings without having to sell a kidney or other major organ. Noteperformer has helped, but I'm still unsatisfied. What about EW Gold Strings, which appear to be on sale. Does it play well with Sibelius? Any other recommendations?

Depends how deep you're willing to dig into the pockets!

Miroslav Philharmonik works well for me without breaking the bank.

I have been using the East/West Gold orchestra for some time now and have been delighted with both the sound and ease of integration with Sibelius (as long as you use Jonathan Loving's superb Soundset!)
My only criticism is that some notes of the 10 violas section are a bit harsh/nasal. I don't know if other users have experienced that?

Plus there are four or five adjustments to string sections you can make in the mixer. I have found these to be helpful.

I am somewhat biased, Eastwest is fantastic and well integrated with Sibelius. Hollywood Strings especially are spectacular, and now 50% off. You do need a seriously powerful computer to run them.
