Sib. 7.5: Setting Chord Symbols
Posted by djollie76 - 11 Aug 08:42AM
Hi all.

I just want to set the chord symbols at a desired position/location.

Right now I am dragging them all to where I find suitable.

Hopefully I can change individual chord symbols in case the notes go high off the staff for instance:)

Thanks.

Pls see p 468 Sib 751 pdf ref manual, and attachment..is this what you mean?

"Default vertical position
The default vertical position of chord symbols can be changed from the Appearance > Design and Position > Default Positions dialog. Choose the Other objects radio button at the top left of the dialog, then choose Chord Symbol from the list of objects at the left-hand side – b 8.4 Default Positions."

Thanks Bob

Yeah, possibly.

The thing is that it seems that the longer the chord symbol the more off center it becomes which complicates things.

For instance C might rest where I want it but C9(b13) would go far before the bar line.

Edited - You're correct, longer chords (like a C9(b13)) set to the left, there's not much can be done about that (they are not left-justified and there's no option to make them that way).

I "Command + click" on several chords (or filter chords) and will adjust them with the left/right arrows.

I always shave my symbols down to minimum width. I would write C9(b13) as C13-, saving 3 characters. It is understood that a 13th chord normally includes the 9th. I use delta and slashed ø symbols to decrease width too, and tier altered intervals. I don't like centred symbols either. Mine are aligned to note left and default at -0.5 spaces. I use legacy chord input to get them exactly how I want.
