Sib. 7.5: Moving back one note
Posted by Gordon Thornett - 24 Jul 08:43AM
Apologies for asking this question again, but can someone please remind me how to correct this strange behaviour - moving back to the previous note or chord to correct something (using the arrow key) annoyingly moves me back two notes (heaven knows why!) I then have to click on the right arrow to get to the note I want. I seem to remember this was easy to rectify, but I cam't remember how!

Many thanks, Bob. (I had done a search, but for some reason hadn't found this thread.)

Not sure how my computer had reverted to this previous setting, but I've taken advantage of going there to check previous box 'truncate notes at end of bars when using repeat' - even though I'm not quite sure what that does!

Truncate notes... is about what happens when you press R to repeat a note. Original behaviour was to have the next barline treated as a brick wall - if you were in 4/4 and entered quaver, crotchet, R, R, R, the last note would be a quaver. Indisputably "wrong", but many of us found it strangely useful :-) After some sustained moaning, we got the old behaviour reinstated as an option.

Same thing with the back-arrow option. There was a good argument that the "corrected" behaviour was correct. But it wasn't as useful. So, after a bit of people-power Daniel gave in...

Ah, those were the days! (I mean - when Daniel was around...)

Yes, while I'm really looking forward to Yamaha Steinberg's new composing tool being worked on my Daniel and Team, I am also looking forward to conversations such as this:

We have such a vested interest in Sibelius :-)

And, after a period of firmly stating "we have no plans to change this" Daniel would... change it!
