Sib. 7.1.3: Trills carrying over to the next staff
Posted by George Greenwood - 20 Jul 04:36PM
Attached is a Schmelzer part that won't allow me to have the trill over a note at the end of the staff without carrying over to the next staff. This occurs in bars 16, 19, 23 and 30 in the Adagio. I can combine the following bar with the bar in question and move the slider to eliminate the 'wiggles' but as soon as I move the bar back to its original position, the wiggles come back to the next system.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just drag the hidden handle at the end of the wiggles to the left so that the wiggles stop just before the barline. This is best done in Panorama mode if you are working at a system-end or page-end.

I have not been able to reproduce your problem of the wiggles returning to the next system.

Workaround since many versions: make a passage selection (even if it's a single note) and then create the trill line. In this way it perfectly fits the bar and won't spill to the next system.

While retracting the lines by hand certainly works, the downloadable plugin Retract Line Ends (category Lines) was designed to pull back the ends of lines that extend just over the barline. Might be worth a try.

Wim's workaround is what I do when entering new lines. The plugin is good if you already have the lines with this problem.

The system passage selection worked fine (I never used this function previously). Thanks Wim and you other guys for your suggestions.
