I don't suppose there is a function online or otherwise through which we can convert a file from 7.5 format to 7.1 format?

For people like myself who work in an institution with fixed upgrade schedules (end of the year), and with students working in Sibelius 7.5 at home, it is problematic when trying to open their files on 7.1.

Of course one might say this is the student's fault in not exporting to a previous version, but even so, it wastes time and energy when a solution could be readily available...

The shipping plugin Home > Plugins > Batch Processing > Convert Folder of Scores to Earlier Sibelius Version will work in 7.5.1, though the 7 options was missing in 7.5.

On the other hand, doesn't a completed assignment include exporting in the proper format? A slip once and a while might be OK. But having to batch convert is a waste of your time. Am I too harsh?

True enough. The plugin would not work unless you had 7.5.1 to run it. If you only have 7.1, you can't use it.

As far as I can see, you either have to have the students convert to v7, or get hold of someone with 7.5 who can run the convertor plugin for you. You could use the demo version of 7.5 for 30 days, but after that you would be out of luck.

Thanks all. Yes, I was talking about for use in places where they have 7.1, but not 7.5.1.

I had a dream the other night that I could set up a new email account which automatically saves attached files (i.e. the Sib 7.5 files) to an Action Folder, which could then use Applescript to run the batch convert plugin. But is Sibelius Applescript - aware?

Another option would be to Remote Access my home computer from the work computer, and then use Sibelius 7.5.1 at home to convert the file.
