Well, once you realised it was unstable you got into the habit of pressing Ctrl-S regularly of course, so at least you only lost 5 minutes work at a time :-)

This is usually about your soundcard drivers or about VSTi plugins. We can get more detailed if YOU get more detailed.

Better than just Saving, and rewriting over the same piece each time, do a 'Save as' every few minutes, or every change or so you make.

Just saving a piece over and over with the same name runs the risk of losing a LOT of work, should one of those saves malfunction.

Also you should check your Backup scores, and Auto Save folder for saved scores when trouble strikes.

PS If you give a more detailed account of the crashes--error messages, reproducible steps with each crash-- and your System specs--platform, OS, RAM, etc-- perhaps someone can help solve the problem

This is happening to me, as well. I am getting an Access Violation message that Sibelius must restart, at the point I try to close a file. I have tried alternate ways of closing a file, but I can't determine any consistency to the issue. It is so troublesome. I hope there is a fix. Thank you. Patricia

Patricia, what version of Sibelius are you running?

If you are running Sibelius 7.5, please install the free update to 7.5.1.

On Windows or on Mac OS?

Was Sibelius running full-screen when it crashed?

Certainly upgrade to 7.5.1. It contains fixes to many of the crashes in Sibelius:
