Hi All,
I am unable to open photoscore lite on mac osx 10.9.2 as I keep getting the message in the attachment. I have just upgraded to 7.0.2 and it hasn't helped. I have restarted and completely re-installed several times.

The report is too truncated to be of any use. Please copy and paste the whole report. The issue is usually a Mac OS permissions problem in the file system.

This error is caused by wrong permissions in the file-system.

Please ensure that the folder on hard disk at:

/usr/local/lib/

is globally readable.

If that does not fix it, then carry out the Mac OS maintenance procedure known as "Repair permissions".

Bob, I have tried to access /usr/local/lib/ but is says i don't have permission to, I have repaired the permissions and still had no success. How do I make /usr/local/lib/ globally readable?

The report confirms that it is indeed the folder /usr/local/lib that needs to be made readable. You probably needs to elevate yourself to Administrator status to change the permissions on that folder.

You may be the only user, and regard yourself as the admin, but you do not have Mac OS Administrator Status by default.

Open "Terminal".

In Terminal, type precisely the command:

sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/lib

It will demand the Administrator password before proceeding.

Just tried it with the same issue. According to system preferences I am the admin and i still can't access /usr/local/lib or open photoscore

I'm not clear what is meant by "Just tried it with the same issue." What was tried (the precise wording), and what was the response (the precise wording)? Copy-and-paste is useful here.

In Terminal, try, in order:

sudo chmod 755 /usr/local
sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/lib

sudo chmod 755 /usr/local

I reply to this post because it seems all of you are experienced Photoscore Light users. I'm on Sib 6.1.2 and scanned a very simple piano printed page intending to send to Sibelius. The preview looked correct; scanned result on screen seemed wrong-missing staves, maybe because upside down-and the drop down box advised me of problems.
The option to send to Sib was available.
However I then used the upside down icon; the page on screen seemed a perfect faithful copy of the original, but now the option to 'transfer to Sibelius' disappeared, and was grey in the File> send to Sib option.
I retried, rescanned (greyscale)several times but I'm missing a crucial point somewhere.
Mike Lyons kindly replied suggesting that a different version of Sib may be the cause and suggested the .opt pathway to repair, but I don't understand that process.
Any suggestions appreciated.
