When I try to open the files, I get an error message:

There was an error opening the score /Users/blah/blah/filename.sib: 1486

The files open and play just fine on my iPad using Scorch. I just can't get them to open on my MacBook.

My aim is to open the .sib scores and export midi files with tempo and time signature data for use in ProTools.

I don't use Sibelius enough to warrant paying for an upgrade to 7.5 at the moment. But I'd like to open files recently created by a composer I'm working with.

Any thoughts?

Sibelius cannot open Sib files from later versions. But you can ask your friend to Export a Sib file in Sibelius 6 format for you.

You don't. Sibelius 7.5 can export into the file-format of any earlier version of Sibelius, all by itself.

Max, please clarify your issue:

1. What version of the Sibelius application are you using, and is giving you that error message?

2. What version of file-format of Sibelius score are you trying to open?

Sibelius 6 cannot open any Sibelius 7 score format. If you wish to receive score files from a Sibelius 7 user, then that Sibelius 7 user must specially export the score into the earlier format that you can read with Sibelius 6.

Hi,
I am trying to export .sib files from my new MacBook Pro (Sibelius 7.5) to my old macbook (Sibelius 6.2). And my old MacBook can't open them. I have tried to find "save as" or "export as" but cannot find any alternativs.
Where can I find them?
One of the reasons for exporting these files is that I can't find the control for how to alter/set the playback speed. This is, from what I understand not something you do with "live" playback.
So for this question: in which meny is this to be found and what is it called in 7.5?

In Sibelius 7.x, use tab File -> Export -> Previous Version -> Sibelius 6: to make a Sibelius 6 score file.

In Sibelius 7, use the "Transport" panel for control of real-time playback.
