Sib. 7.1.3: Textures for parts
Posted by WoodyS - 21 Apr 02:57PM
I have apparently, inadvertently, flipped some switch in Sibelius because my parts are no longer coming up with a yellow background texture. Full score and parts are all white. I believe by default parts come up textured but not so with my current configuration.

Anyone know what I might have done or how to correct it?

Thank you

Woody

Pls see p 675 Sib 713 pdf ref manula:

"Distinguishing the score from a part

Sibelius uses different desk and paper textures for scores and parts so that you can instantly
differentiate between the two. By default, Sibelius shows parts with a cream-colored paper and the
score with white paper. To change the appearance of these textures, use the Textures page of File >
Preferences – b 1.25 Display settings."

Hope this helps

Thanks Bob

Hi Bob & Wlm

@Bob
Yes, I am aware of the textures tab in preferences but the question is what these settings should be set to to obtain a default configuration. In your message: what does - b 1.25 Display settings mean?

@Wlm:
I did uncheck Differences in parts in the View menu but it seems to make not difference. I have attached a test file I am working with.

Thank you

You're welcome:)

Im sorry--didnt the reply I previously quoted from the manual already answer that?

"By default, Sibelius shows parts with a cream-colored paper and the
score with white paper."

>In your message: what does - b 1.25 Display settings mean?

If you look in the reference manual to what I had quoted you'll see
it refers to "1.25 Display settings", p 127 in the ref manual.

I've looked in the manual but still can't find anywhere where it says how to restore defaults. I'm on Sib Ultimate, and I too appear to have inadvertently clicked something that's altered the background to parts. Yes, gone into Textures. I select 'edit textures for parts', then 'paper cream fine laid' but it still comes out grey. The only way seems to be to change the actual colour and that's a bit hit or miss. Anyone know what the default options actually are? or how to reset?

Hi there

Changing the textures for the parts (as opposed to the score) does not seem to be working for me (on a Mac using v.2020.9), and I vaguely remember something about this being broken at some point.

Someone else may have more up-to-date information, but if you have a different OS or version, it might be useful to post that.

Yes, it seems only colour (sorry, color) works for parts. I use the palette, close to the bottom of the yellow strip gives an acceptable creamy colour (sorry, color).

Thanks. That's what I've done (changed the colour manually) but I don't understand how it got changed from the default - I certainly didn't do it knowingly.
