Sib. 7.5: quituplet to sixtuplet
Posted by byxx - 21 Apr 09:33AM
Dear Community,

I am transcribing a lot. Sometimes it happens that I want to add/remove a note to an n-tuplet.

When I change the 5 to a 6-tuplet the whole array of already wriiten notes is deleted and I have to write them again at the moment.

Is there a better way?

Thx very much
Cheers
Tim

You can try the Lengthen and Shorten Tuplet Plugins--pls see Sib 713 pdf ref man p 299-300 and attachment.

I just tried the Lengthen Tuplet plugin to change a quintuplet to a sextuplet and it worked fine.

"Lengthen Tuplet
Lengthens a tuplet by combining the tuplet with notes either side of it. To use the plug-in, select all
the notes of the existing tuplet and the notes (either before or after the tuplet) you want to add to
the tuplet, and choose Note Input > Plug-ins > Tuplets > Lengthen Tuplet. If you select all the
notes of two or more adjacent tuplets, they will all be joined into a single tuplet.

Shorten Tuplet
Shortens a tuplet by taking notes out of the tuplet and rewriting them outside the tuplet bracket. To
use the plug-in, select as many notes in an existing tuplet you want to remain in the tuplet, then
choose Note Input > Plug-ins > Tuplets > Shorten Tuplet. The notes in the tuplet that were not selected are written as “normal” notes either before or after the shortened tuplet. If you select only
one or two notes, running the plug-in will remove the enclosing tuplet altogether and replace it
with regular notes."

Thanks Bob

okay, thanks Bob,

would you think it is possible to change a passage like the one shown in the attachment without deleting notes and rewriting.

I always get deleted notes when I add a n-tuplet in a given line.

say :
you have two eigths notes where I want to insert a third note for a triplet without changing the surrounding notes espscially when you already have smaller rhythmical values around within a quarter grouping.

or
changing the basic layout to more detailed grouping inside quarter note groupings

see attachment.

Thanks very much
best regards
Tim

Hi Tim..yes thats exactly the results I got with your attachment using the Shorten Tuplet Plugin..select the last three notes and run the Plugin.

Again, this and my last reply are using the Shorten Tuplets plugin and the Lengthen Tuplets plugin--just follow the given directions.

Thanks Bob

Dear Bob,

very kind. Sure, I have to check it out more, I guess. Thanks for your help here. It´s good to know, there is a way, to not always have to rescore everything to only fix some small changes in rhythm

Best regards
Tim
