You can use an ordinary X notehead, and drag the top of the stem to be of zero length. Is that what you want?

Robin's correct, especially if you're doing a few stemless notes.

For more, go to:
Notations tab > Noteheads (see 1 Edit Noteheads attachment)

Choose Notehead 1 and choose New. (2nd attachment)

Uncheck "Stem" in the resulting window and name the new note "Cross (No Stem") or something recognizable. (3rd attachment)


Select the bars you've written you're notes on (or double-click) to select the whole staff, and click on "Type" in the Notations tab and scroll down to the bottom and click on Note "Cross (No Stem). (4th attachment)
