Sib. 7.5: Duration before pitch
Posted by NickG - 13 Apr 12:51PM
I want to keep "Duration before pitch" selected but is there a way to add accidentals and articulations after not entry without leaving the input carrot.
Now what I have to do is hit Esc. then input the accidental or articulation then return to not input mode.

You can use ctrl-up/down arrow to move a semitone up/down ...

Dangle the input carrot above the note, it will reach up and become a sharp. Alternatively, use the "don" key.

Sorry :-)

I think you misunderstand. I use the computer w/external keyboard/numpad to enter notes. I don't want to move the note, I want to add the accidental or articulation AFTER entering the note without getting out of note entry.

So, right now, if I want to enter a C#, I select the quarter note AND # on the keypad and hit C on my computer keyboard. What I would like to do is:
Select the quarter note and hit C on my keyboard, then select the # to make the C# but still stay in note input mode. The same for Articulations.

Then you have to use the arrow keys to go back a note, as the note input caret moves on the the next beat after inputting. Not sure if that takes you out of note input mode, though. Nice, Laurence!

NickG: You say: >Now what I have to do is hit Esc. then input the accidental or articulation then return to not input mode.<

I would still say: Use ctrl-up/down arrow to move a semitone up/down. It doesn't take you out of note input. It turns a C into a C#.

(You can hit the enter key to change the note enharmonically if needed)
