Before I do an activation on 7.5, since I need to keep 7.1.3 activated and have installations on 2 machines: has anyone successfully activated 7.5 and still kept an activated 7.1.3? I don't want to activate 7.5 if I lose 7.1.3. (I have the trial downloaded).
If you were able to keep both activated (on multiple machine) were there specific steps you needed to take to accomplish this?

I'd be interested to know this as well as I'm in the same position. I'm using the 7.5 trial, which seems fine so far, but don't want to risk losing 7.1.3.

This is the issue that Avid (Sibelius) needs to address and work more like Make Music does with its Finale. If you own the use of it...you own the use of it. You don't lose it just because you purchased an upgrade/update or new edition.
Your thoughts ???

Bob, after having been burnt by what seems to be a bug of some sort, my recommendation is that you should de-activate Sibelius 7.1.3 before installing 7.5, then activate Sibelius 7.5, then re-activate Sibelius 7.1.3.

I have 2 activations of 7.1.3 already. If I deactivate 7.1.3 and then activate 7.5, will I be able to reactivate 7.1.3? My understanding is that it will not reactivate if I already have another activation.

Sib 1.2 - 7, Windows 7 Pro SP 1 64 bit, 4 G RAM. Year 2014.
Sibelius users traditionally lost access to the previous version when they updated, and I could live with that. But in Sib 7, one could keep an active version of Sib 6 on a machine, which was handy if one worked with people using other version. Sib can export to earlier version, but there are often small changes that can be avoided by not exporting.
Sam has said that if you activate 7.5 on a machine with Sib 6 and Sib 7.1.3 activated, these activations will not be lost on that machine, but that you would need to contact Avid if you wanted to put a copy of Sib 6 or Sib 7.1.3 on another machine. this is not perfect, but I consider it to be acceptable.
As before, versions 5 and earlier will be deactivated if you activate 7.5, and I am OK with that. I would suspect that you could contact Avid if you had a need for an earlier version. I have 5 active because I help with debugging plugins and other problems, so I suspect it can be fairly easily done.
My problem is more short term. I have heard from others that activating 7.5 will leave 6 activated but will deactivate 7.1.3.
I am working on projects using 7.1.3, and I do not want it to be deactivated if I activate 7.5. So I need to know:
1. Is there a way to activate 7.5 and leave 6 and 7.1.3 on the same machine still activated.
2. If 1 is not possible, how quickly can I get a reactivation of 7.1.3? Can I sign up for it in advance so I can quickly reactivate it one I activate 7.5?
Thanks,

Copy licences folder for sib 7.1.3 to a new location
Instal and register 7.5
If you get error message, delete licences folder from original location
Run sib 7.5. Register and then close it.
Copy licences folder to a new location
From now on, if you want to use 7.5/7.1.3 copy the appropriate folder to the original location.

Upgraded 7.1.3 to 7.5 on Windows7 and 7.1.3 is deactivated but when I try to reactivate it says it is already activated so there is a problem.
Has anyone found a solution ?
Sam - the link above goes to a very large thread, and it is not obvious to me exactly what one needs to do to find and delete the license files (I didn't even know there were license files!)
Could we please set step by step instructions for deleting the license files? I have not activated 7.5 yet. Does one need to activate 7.5 thus deactivating 7.1.3 or order to produce the file which will then be deleted?

Quit Sibelius (which ever version you're running)
* Win: Go to C:\ProgramData\Avid\Licenses
* Mac: Go to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Licenses
* Delete the Sibelius folder
* Run either Sibelius 7 or Sibelius 7.5 and activate either of them
This will restore the activation for both versions.
However I have not understand if this also works on the second installation, for instance on a laptop. I haven't installed Sibelius 7.5 on my second computer because I am not sure if it's possible to keep Sibelius 7.1.3 activated.

I cannot do this as I do not have a folder Licences. I have a folder named Avid License Control or inside Sibelius 7 & 7.5 a folder named license with inside this a third party license but no Sibelius inside any license folders.
more help needed I feel.
You are looking in the wrong place. Read the instructions more carefully, they said:
> Go to C:\ProgramData\Avid\Licenses
It did not say: C:\Program Files\Avid\
By default in Windows, C:\ProgramData\ is hidden from view. You can get there by:
- hold down the Windows key while typing R;
- in the Run box, type %programdata% and click OK. The percent signs are required.

I can't believe this! Just find out you have to pay for an upgrade from 7.1.3 to 7.5.
OMG! Not only did Avid neglected their users for several years by postponing an upgrade, they sacked the whole Sibelius team, and now they're saying thank you to their users by asking to pay for such a minor upgrade??
This is outrages!
Many thanks for the feedback. We are legally obliged to sell something that contains a new feature. Bug fixes updates can (and are) free but anything that contains new functionality strictly needs to be sold. It's so we are in line with revenue recognition.
The upgrade for Sibelius 7 users is heavily discounted from $149 to $49 (when you buy the download) so you won't have to pay the usual upgrade price.
If you have any further questions about this, I'd be happy for you to email me directly.
