Wondering if it will be possible to add to user definable text as markers e.g. saxophone solo - solo backgrounds etc and then one can simply click on that on the timeline?

"Timeline: A new navigation tool

…. It allows the user to easily navigate to any place in the score by simply clicking on one of the landmarks, which can be optionally hidden or shown depending on the user’s preferences and the nature of the particular score.

Yes, I believe that is exactly what is intended by the “Musical structure” text style. It's another type of system text that calls on its own pre-defined word menu. You can type in anything you like, or add words to the pre-defined menus in Preferences > Word Menus. It will appear in the "Other Text" lane of the Timeline.
