Sib. 7.1.3: Staff curiosity
Posted by Adrian Drover - 21 Sep 08:10AM
Jus' curios. Why does Sib put a brace on a single glock or vibraphone staff, yet not on a marimba treble staff? And has anyone ever seen glock or vibra written on a grand staff?

Vibraphone sometimes on two staffs but both with treble clef.

I've never seen that, Jesper. Would it be for two players on one instrument, or one staff for each hand?

Hi Adrian. one player, one hand for each staff, had a Gary Burton book written that way. Only when using 4 mallets I'm sure. Now that's a guy that can play the vibraphone. ; - )

But I agree that it's strange to put a brace Adrian.

I am using two staves when writing for one player with 4 or 6 mallets. Too hard to read otherwise especially when using the full range of the vibes.

6 mallets, really? Never heard anyone been able to control them.
