Sib. 7.1.3: Problem, Rewire with Pro Tools 10.3.5
Posted by Mabo - 02 Jun 10:21PM
Hi Team,

Does anyone face this issue and have any solutions?
I have a problem with Rewire. As some users shared on Youtube etc., I've tried the function but seems like it does not work properly...

My PC: Windows 7 64bit
Rewire host: Pro Tools 10.3.5
Sibelius: Sibelius 7.1.3

Following are what I've got/tried so far on my testing.
- I could download ReWire 1.7 from link below and install it on my PC.
http://www.propellerheads.se/download/updates_rewire/
- "Sibelius 7 (stereo)" is exactly available on in a audio track in Pro Tools 10.3.5.
- Sibelius 7 automatically boot up but the Rewire mark does not appear in Sibelius and does not sync with Pro Tools.
- As Avid Knowledge Base titled "Sibelius doesn't show up in ReWire" is telling, I did reinstall Sibelius 7.1.3 but it does not work to resolve.
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/troubleshooting/en362399

The Knowledge is also mentioning about Rewire version 1.8.2. How to get it? I cannot find it out...

Please advise!
Thanks,
Mabo

I had this problem a little while ago, and it ended with me having to reinstall Sibelius, which didn't work. If I remember correctly, I finally discovered the problem to be Sibelius starting up in 32 bit mode instead of 64 bit mode.

Either way, I abandoned the idea of using rewire in ProTools completely after I realized what a drain it was on my computer. I got low CPU power messages frequently. The integration wasn't too smooth...

Hi DCPianist,
Thank you for the tip! Seems like it isn't too easy. I'm not sure but we have to wait for newer version(s) Rewire which is installable on PC. Let's hope any official solutions come up...

Hi Sam,
Thank you for the update. Unfortunately I couldn't resolve this issue even though I did reinstall Sib7.1.3 with the full installer downloaded. Pro tools does not show up "Sibelius 7 (Stereo)" in the Instrument. (Of course I performed deleting files according to the KB prior to reinstalling though.)

I haven't a clue. But thanks anyway. I will wait for any other ideas.
- Mabo

Hi Mabo,

My colleague, David Dowling, as uploaded a new video to the article, which goes through some further steps.

We've found that you may need to download and install ReWire 1.7 even though the version Sibelius installs should be later than this, seems to allow ReWire hosts find Sibelius.

Hope this helps some more.

HI,
I have similar problem too. I use Sibelius 8.7.2 and Digital Performer 9.1.2 on Mac 10.12.4. I can't sync Sibelius to DP as well, cause on DP's aux track plugin window, there is no Sibelius Rewire. I installed Rewire 1.7 few times, bit it doesn't help.

I kept reading Avid's site regarding Rewire 1.8.2 version but there is no download site (version 1.7 is the only one). Any idea to solve this problem?

Thanks!

Do *NOT* install "ReWire". Doing so over-writes the correct version of ReWire that is installed with Sibelius.

Now you need to re-install Sibelius to get the correct version of ReWire.
