All notes with a staccato dot becomes very short or it sound nothing!
What could have happened and can it be reset?

I have encountered the same problem on some interments not all mostly wind and brass, and have to remove the staccato and write out the shorter value notes by hand. I usually end up with two separate files of all my orchestral scores, one for performance by live musicians and one for sound files. It is a bit of a pain but that's the way it is unfortunately. I am using a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion by the way. Regards Michael

I have a similar problem with a concert band score. There is a section where the bassoon, bari sax, and tenor sax have staccato notes. The bari sax part is silent until normal note occur.

I've found that if I restart Sibelius and open the same score again, so is staccato OK. But after a while, the problem returns. Very often with Baritonsax!?

Question: Can I restore it (Filter/Velocity/Duration) without having to restart Sibelius?

Yes Baritone Sax often suffers this problem. You don't need to close Sibelus usually, change to a different configuration then back again. I have a 'Silent' configuration (no devices selected)

Bari sax and brass plus others, I've had this problem. They don't all seem to be sampled.

Go to Play - Dictionary - Articulations - Staccato. Delete Staccato+ in the Sound ID Change box (can be put back easily).

Select Adjust Dynamic.... etc and choose you own prefence.

This always works for me.

Also good to do the same with marcato, accent etc etc

Even if I put Adjust Duration to 100% for bar.sax it plays incredibly short note, it hardly sounds!?

Tomas, please attach a sample .sib score file which exhibits the problem you are experiencing. Then we can diagnose what might be causing it.

Did you do the Sib 7 Sounds update when you updated the programme?
It's a separate process.
