Have just purchased Sibelius First, downloaded all the files and installed the program and activated and registered it but I can't get the "Sibelius7FirstSoundsDownloader_76281-1.exe to install. This has to set up the Pando Media Booster and it hangs up when it gets to doing that. Consequently we can't get our 12 Gigs of sampled sounds.

Sibelious is is being set up on a Sony laptop running Windows 7. What could be the problem? Would be grateful for any advice. Everything else went fine.

What do you mean by "hangs up"? How long do you expect it to take to download 12GB? It will take many many hours even on a fast broadband connection. Maybe you just need to give it more time to work.

Make sure that your firewalls are open, and that you configure your PC not to go into standby, sleep, or hibernate, but keep it on full power until the download is complete.

What happens when the Sibelius7FirstSounds Downloader is activated is that it hooks into the Internet and is obviously downloading stuff and setting up files. This goes on for a few minutes and then when it gets to "Installing PMB.exe" it stops downloading. That is as far as it goes. It seems that there is some incompatibility somewhere with that particular program and can't continue on until that is resolved. The router goes quiet. What would cause that? The Windows 7 OS is 64bit. No notices come up so could it still be doing stuff?

The Pando Media Booster seems to be the problem. I downloaded that program independently and it still wouldn't install and work properly on the computer.

Do you have third-party security/firewall software which might be interfering with Pando?

Otherwise, you do need to give Pando time. It will first of all try to find peer-to-peer Pando installations elsewhere. Only when it fails to find peers will it go for a direct download. I don't know how long it takes before it decides to go for a direct download.

You can generate a log file from the downloader and send it to me. You could try the steps shown here on the Pando site.

Sorry you're having problems! Every so often people do run into difficulties with PMB, but we can normally get them sorted out.
