Sib. 7.1: Change Double Barline to Single Barline?

I've got a double barline where it shouldn't be -- is there any way to change it to a regular single bar line without adding a bar and copying and pasting the notes?

Select the double barline and press Delete. (Might as well mention it now - a "normal" barline from the Insert Barline menu isn't. Normal.)

Actually, you can't make a "normal" barline in Sibelius First. But Laurence's caution is worth bearing in mind if you upgrade to full Sibelius.

Oh right. I'm afraid you're going to get a lot of this, Al. People who know Sibelius well enough to answer questions are likely to be ignorant on just one topic - what features are missing in the "lite" version :-)

I'm not understanding, perhaps it is terminology. If I create a double bar line, then select it and delete it, it changes back to a single bar line. Does "normal" barline mean something else?

In Sibelius it does. What you get when you delete a barline is the default barline, which in Sibelius could be something other than a single barline.

In Sibelius one can use Create > Barline to create a normal barline, which is a single barline. People sometimes to this to replace a double barline. This works fine in the score, but in a part the "Normal Special Barline" object created will split multirests, rather mysteriously.

So we generally warn people not to create a normal barline, but instead to delete any special barlines, which generally gives you a single barline.
