Hi,

It would be great to have some feedback from someone who already got this Library.

Let me suggest that you download Hauptwerk instead, from here:

http://www.hauptwerk.com

Or listen to samples of Hauptwerk instruments here:

http://www.contrebombarde.com

The Garritan instrument is based on mathematical modeling of pipes. While that model-driven simulation has been successful with many single instruments, the organ community has solidly embraced a sample-driven approach.

The electronic organ manufacturers (Rodgers, Allen, etc.) moved from electronic tone generation to modeled sound--and the Garritan library sounds very much like what you'd hear from a modern electronic organ. Which is very, very different from the sound of samples taken from actual organs.

In looking at the Garritan web site, it appears that Garritan has a similar problem that Sibelius Sounds has: your ability to make registration changes is difficult, particularly if you're making changes while performing a piece. With Hauptwerk it's easy--click on a piston, pull a stop. Many people use a touch-screen interface; still others integrate Hauptwerk into working consoles.

The free version of Hauptwerk comes with a fully-sampled English church organ (St. Anne's, Moseley) that is very nice. There is a substantial market with many other organ sound sets available--all sampled from real instruments.

Definitely worth a look. And there's a tutorial on the Hauptwerk forum on how to integrate Hauptwerk as a VST to use with Sibelius.

That is incorrect. Where did you read that from? Garritan Classic Pipe Organs are a sample based collection. There is however interesting technology used for reverberation and release samples. But it is NOT a simulation...

Again... That is incorrect. They are samples from actual real organs.

It is the exact same process with the ARIA Player interface. You can easily click on an instrument slot to replicate the behavior of moving a piston/stop.

I have created templates with touch screen applications for Garritan Classic Pipe Organs if anyone wants. Just PM me. The behavior is the same. In summary just as powerful setups can be integrated.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

If I asked about the Garritan Classic pipe Organs is because the sound is ok and it is not too expensive. I would love to have Hauptwerk with the st Etienne Cavaillé-Coll form Caen. I actually used to play that organ very often when I lived in France. The problem is that most of the organ Libraries I like are too expensive for my budget.

Morduch,
Thanks a lot for your message and tutorial. I just found it.
I'll try the free version of Hauptwerk. (I hope I have enough RAM)

Chad,
Thanks a lot for your message. Can you for example have a Nasat with Flutes 8' and 4'or just Nasat and 8', can that be accompanied buy a Flute 8'? I thought the Garritan Classic Pipe Organs was a library of preset registrations. I hope I am wrong. have you made any sound files of the CPO? Does it sound like in the demos at the Garritan site?

Thanks a lot!
