Sib. 6.x: Playbaack Devices config Sibelius Sounds "grayed out"

Somehow I have managed to mangle my Sibelius 6.x configuration for playback.

Upon open of an existing file or create a new score, the playback device defaults to a configuration called "Sibelius Sounds." However, if I playback a score, nothing is heard on the speakers, although the "theme music" plays whenever Sibelius is started "cold".

In the Active Devices tab I have Available Devices in descending order as follows:
Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth - type MIDI
USB Uno MIDI interface - type MIDI
GM-Module - type - MIDI
Sibelius Player - type Sibelius

The Active Devices window is completely blank and I'm unable to select any of the Available devices to Activate/Deactivate, Show or Test.

OS is Win7/64, all current updates w/i7 CPU and 12GB of RAM.

I do have ProTools 9 loaded on the same machine and use the MBox Micro2 to feed my desktop speakers.

I'm willing and able to hack just about any aspect, I just don't know where to start to recover, short of completely uninstalling and reinstalling.

It sounds as if Sibelius is trying to start in Rewire mode. Use the buttons in "Audio Engine Options" to clear that up.

Both the Rewire and the Cleanup buttons are GRAYED out.

Try this:

- quit Sibelius;
- while holding down the Windows key, type R to open the Run box;
- in the Run box type %appdata% and click OK;
- in the folder that opens, open "Sibelius Software";
- in the folder that opens, open "Sibelius 6";
- in the folder that opens, rename "Playback Configurations" to something else;
- now launch Sibelius 6 so that it re-creates a default Playback Configuration.
