Sib. 7.1: Two 5x7 pages on same 8.5x11 sheet

Using 7.1.2, it's getting to be that time of the year when marching band parts need arranged and printed to give to kids over the summer to have ready (and hopefully memorized) for band camp. One thing that's always bothered me is while I can print a single 5x7 sheet to go in a lyre, I can't print 2 which means I end up wasting a ton of paper.

For example, I'd love to be able to print on the top half of an 8½x11 sheet Flute parts and Clarinet parts on the bottom half. I can then use a paper cutter to trim them to the right size. Of course, you can't buy 5x7 paper that's not photo paper and standard letter would be cheaper anyway.

All that being said, has Sibelius found a way to do this so we don't waste as much paper? Of course, I know I can print all the parts, cut them, then photo copy them, but it's just as cheap to print originals on the same printer/scnaner/copier as it is to copy them and the quality is always better than photo copies.

If this isn't possible, please add this to the list of really-gotta-haves for v8 or sooner. Thanks...

2 5 x 7 pages will never fit on an 8.5 x 11 sheet. An 8.5 x 14 sheet, maybe... or 4.25 x 5.5 on 8.5 x 11.

"2 5 x 7 pages will never fit on an 8.5 x 11 sheet."

Of course they do. I've been doing it since the old days, when I was working in pencil. Two 5" x 7" pages easily fit on an 8.5" x 11" sheet, and always will.

One way to do it is to print half of the parts on the top half of the sheets, and then rotate the sheets by 180 degrees and feed them into the printer to print the other half of the parts on the "new" top half of the sheets. If the top margin as printed matches the desired top margin of the finished parts, and the part is centered horizontally (left and right margins equal), then there are four set of cuts needed; two each at two settings on the cutter.

I'm sorry - of course they do. I was trying to fit them portrait, but they work in landscape just fine. Please ignore my useless comment :(

I have not tested it, but it looks to me as if the Printing options for Spreads or 2 up will do what you want if you tell Sibelius your page size is 5 x 7 (Band) and the paper size is 8.5 x 11.

See these topics in the Reference.

Thanks, will try. Will be a great improvement over Cause's solution, which I've tried, but printers often "eat" paper re-fed to it and it'll be 100x better than printing, cropping, and then photo copying.
