Hi,
I have a problem with Vienna Symphonic Library and Sibelius when using any of the orchestral strings, all the other instruments and articulations work fine but the strings seem to be stuck on detache all the time even when i trigger other techniques correctly. I can get it to play with different techniques if i manually trigger them in VSL while it is playing in Sibelius but once it is paused it defaults back to detache. I'm a bit of a computer simpleton so if you can help me please be really clear.

What do you mean by 'triggering other techniques'? How do you do this?
Have you installed the appropriate soundset for VSL?

Sorry i meant triggering other patches in vsl by using technique text in sibelius saying legato, tremolo etc. i have installed the sound set and it seems to work with every other instrument except the orchestral strings. It is strange though that only some articulations like staccato and marcato markings work but nothing else seems to have any effect. i have also read through the vsl guide to setting it up with sibelius and how to trigger other patches but it has not helped with this problem.

I have a similar problem.Cannot get VSL Symphonic Library sounds ID's displayed in Sib.7.I do get Vienna Special Edition.I choose instrument names from VE Sp.Ed. and in Vienna Ensemble load VSL sound for Sib.. Connot trigger articulation changes (pizz etc.)
Users/Username/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7/House Styles(Displayed)
Users/Username/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7/Sounds/VE for Sib..(no show)

Mac 10.7

Hi, another reason for your problem could be that if you use vsl orchestral strings I or II, when you add strings ("add instruments") to your score, you need to choose te string instrument that says "VSL Orchestral Strings" in brackets behind the instrument, e.g. "Violin I (VSL Orchestral Strings)" instead of just "Violin I". sorry i forgot to mention that i am using the orchestral strings that came with VSL special edition, does this still apply? there is no option for it in the add instruments menu so would it need to be typed in manually?

No, it doesn't apply to the VSL SE. But your problem definately sounds like a sound set problem. But if you loaded the set in your score (you have to load it in every score, its doesn't hurt to load it again) and if you manually set the sounds in your playback device, then I don't know what's wrong... Sorry! But the VSL techs are very helpful, so I'd see what they say.
