Open it with the import video feature. You might want to make sure that "all file formats" is selected not only video-formats in the open dialog.

A concomitant question is: how can one synchronize Sibelius notation to a recorded audio track? I believe that is something Sibelius cannot do. Although Sibelius can display timecodes for each bar, I don't believe one can reset the timecodes to match them to the timecodes in an audio file. Although I have not tried it yet, I think it should be possible to match a Sibelius-generated MIDI file to an audio track in a sequencer like Cubase or Pro Tools. I would be most interested in reading about the experiences of anyone who has already done this, and how one goes about it. For example, how might one match a piano accompaniment notated in Sibelius to an audio track (WAV file) of a solo violin playing a melody with lots of ritardandos, accelerandos and fermatas?

FWIW, for my last big orchestration project, the artist sent me over a CD of the bare rhythm tracks, with explicit details of BPM's and incorporating 2-bar count ins for most songs. I imported the CD's into Pro Tools and carefully edited the starts, so there was no blank space at the beginning.
I set up my orchestra scores, using Sibelius 6.2 and EWSO Gold, making sure that I set metronome marks identical to the rhythm track tempos I'd been provided with.
I then used "import video" as Kai has suggested, selecting "all file formats" and imported the edited CD aiff files.
I was able to complete all the scores, orchestrating alongside the rough rhythm track mixes I'd imported. Wherever I selected a playback location in Sibelius and hit P, the track played back perfectly (in sync), after a couple of seconds to "catch up".
Unfortunately, I couldn't export an audio file that included the imported rhythm track as well- you just get an audio mix of the Sibelius score.
What was even more frustrating was- if I tried to load the Sibelius exported audio bounce back into Pro Tools, alongside the rhythm track, the Sibelius tempo drifted after a few bars and got progressively worse towards the end of the song.
Go figure! In sync in Sibelius, but out of sync back in PT.
Apologies for the length of this reply, but it just goes to show that exporting a Sibelius file as audio resulted in inaccurate tempo- always with the Sibelius bounce lagging.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Maybe this was just a fault in Sib 6.2- Haven't tried it in Sib 7 yet.
