Sib. 7.0: Anybody have KONTAKT working with Sibelius 7?

I have my most important VSTs working now with Sib 7, *except* for Kontakt. Which is really important, because I have a lot of instruments I purchased to work through Native Instruments KONTAKT player.

If anybody has/got Kontakt working with sib7 please share any tips.

Stand alone Kontakt with software/hardware midi routing is the best way to run Kontakt; and you wont have to reload your sounds if Sibelius crashes.

I have Kontakt 4 working with Sibelius 7 on Windows 7 x64 without any problems. I'm only using the old Sibelius 5-era Essentials sound library with it rather than any of the NI-supplied factory content, but it works fine.

Are you bang-smack up-to-date with Kontakt 4? The version I have, which works fine, is 4.2.2. Not sure if there's a more recent version.

I actually just got the Kontakt 4 (version 4.2.3) VST .dll working with Sibelius 7. Yeah! Sweet sounding instrument packages now available through Kontakt.

I used the NI Service Center to update my Kontakt 4 player, just to be safe, and also updated the Factory Library Content; may not have been necessary. Here is what I think worked-- the update reminded me where the 64 bit DLLs went-- not where I expected! They went to
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2\
because I have Cubase 5 on my system. So I may have been using 32 bit dlls, but I think I still was using 64 bit dlls that I have in a separate 64 bit dll folder for Kontakt. So it might have been the update of Kontakt that was needed.

Regardless, I copied the 64 bit dll for Kontakt (there are actually three different ones depending on how many stereo buses one wants) to my folder I use for DLLs for Sibelius 7. Had Sib 7 rescan the DLL folder to nab (recognize) that 64 bit DLL for Kontakt. Added the Kontakt instrument to the sound set (Play:Setup).

Works great now, was able to easily add instruments to the Mixer and then choose Kontakt as the VST engine, choose Cello or whatever, get it played through Kontakt.

I am pretty good to go now for the most part, most of my VST engines working with Sib 7.

KORE not working, might need to hunt and find a 64 bit DLL for Kore.

I can confirm that Kontakt 4 does work (sort of) with Sibelius 7. But I am running on a different OS so I doubt any problems you and I have are similar.

In my case, only 32 bit mode works currently using OS X 10.7. And installed Libraries do not get remembered across instantiations. So I need to add the library manually each time.

Both are known Kontakt 4 bugs.

I am guessing that neither of these applies to the Windows version, but you might check to see if your libraries are added when running Sibelius.

Edit: never mind. I see you got it working.

I haven't gotten the newest version of Kontakt 4 (64 bit) working in Sibelius 7 on Mac OS Lion (10.7), it always crashes, wether in standalone or vst mode. The issue is apparently due to a compatibility problem on NI's side, which should be resolved soon: http://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/compatibility/mac-os-x-compatibility/
