I can't seem to flip the note stems up or down sometimes with a single note or group of notes using the x key. It just does not respond.

Why ? no other note/rest/symbols would be overshadowed by the flip.

Groups of notes are sometimes tricky (for me). I have to select the right note.

Could you attach a short score w/this issue and tell us exactly what bar in which part and which note you're having trouble with?

Hi

The best rule for this is: select and flip the note in each beamed group that is furthest from the beam.

If you've been trying to flip various notes, first select all of them and choose Notes>Reset Stems and Beam Positions.

I completely agree with Jeremy.

Once you flip some notes, and it does not flip the group, then even flipping the correct note will not work. So reset the flip state with Notes>Reset Stems and Beam Position and then try flipping the last note in the group.
