The timpani and the snare drum keeps rolling on longer than the note value in my score when I'm using Sibelius Essential Sounds playback.
Anybody else with the same problem or with a solution.

Page 17 - 18 is a good example of the forever rolling timps.
Everything was fine until I uppdated to Sib. 6

This plays back absolutely fine for me if I select e.g. both timpani staves from bar 91 and play them back. Can you tell me in any more detail how I might reproduce this problem?

I did the same as you, fine first, but as soon as I reach the first roll in bar 92 it doesn't stop rolling in bar 93 as the notes indicate, but keeps on rolling for the rest of the piece even when they are playing the written stuff after the roll. Sounds like 4 timp players, 2 playing the rolls forever and 2 playing the written music after the rolls. Have similar problems on other places with timps and snare drum.
Since it's playing correctly on your computer there must be something wrong on my comp.

I have a PC. I confirm Roar's observation.

I get the same continuous roll as Roar describes when I select a passage to begin the playback. If I select only a single item such as a note, a rest, a dynamic, or a barline to begin playback, I do not get the malfunction.

The passage selection to start the malfunction can be anywhere up and down the system as long as it includes one of the timpani staves. It may be a system selection or a passage selection.

If I select the third note in bar 91 of the bottom timpani line and then press the P key, all the instruments play correctly; I get no improper holding of the timpani roll. That is with only the single note colored blue. No blue box.

If I passage select that same note so there is a blue box around just that note, then pressing the P key begins playback of just that single instrument, but it holds the timpani roll incorrectly.

I raised the rolled half note in bar 91 of the lower timpani part to a G (the top space of the staff). I then began the malfunctioning playback with a passage selection on that instrument only. Playback incorrectly held that G continuously and then added an incorrect holding of the F (the last note of bar 92). So through the two quarter rests in bar 93, both the F and the high G were rolling incorrectly.

I have no explanation; just the confirming observation.

I can't reproduce this regardless of the kind of selection I make. I, too, am on Mac.

Roar, have you considered updating to Sibelius 6.1? I don't believe you are running Sibelius 6.1, since this score asks me whether I want to update my magnetic slurs when I open it, which at the least suggests it hasn't been saved in Sibelius 6.1.

Daniel, you solved it. Update to 6.1 fixed the problem, I was running 6.0.1
