1. Is there a way to put dynamic markings in parentheses easily? Trying to avoid pasting symbols "(" and ")" separately around the marking. Would be great if you could select anything and add parentheses around it with a keypad stroke (like noteheads and accidentals).
2. Is there a way to change the layout of page numbers in parts without effecting those in the score? Like Bar numbers, it would be helpfull to be able to address these separately for score and parts. I have page numbers at top right in the score, and need them top centered in parts.
3. Bar number positioning in parts with multiple staves. I have figured out how to make the bar number layout and style different for score vs. parts. But I am still only able to select one staff to attach them to in the parts. Selecting "top staff" places them correctly for parts with single staff, but for parts with multiple staves (like a harp grand staff, piano, or Vlns I and II on a single part) the bar numbers end up between the two staves and must be dragged down manually, one by one. I thought that selecting "bottom staff" would put the bar numbers below the lowest staff, but the bar numbers do not appear in the parts anywhere when this is selected.
Thanks!

So in fact, I am *not* an in-house guy.
I just happened to know the answer to #1 right off so I figured I would answer it. I am just leaving 2 and 3 for someone who might know the answers without having to research a bunch (as I would have to, in this case). So off hand, I have no real idea about 2 and 3, but I am sure someone will.
For each part you can set which staves the bar numbers appear above or below in Engraving Rules>Bar numbers. The options are rather complex, but if you want bar numbers below the bottom staff in a part, there is an option (Show on Staves: Below bottom staff) specifically for this, so you won't need to redo the alignment at all.
If that's not what you want to do, then perhaps you could post a short snippet of score with a detailed description of what you want, and someone will sort it out for you.
Hope that helps

> 1. There is a downloadable plugin called Bracket Expression Text that will do this. You can assign it to a keyboard shortcut if you want.

Exactly what I needed and so easy to use.
Thanks Bob!

For #2 try:
Create>Other>Page Number Change
If your part is foremost and you click on the Page # it doesn't affect the score.
For Bar Numbers go to:
House Style>Default Positions
(See screenshot.)
Separate windows for Score and Part.
Go to "Bar Numbers" in the left column.
(I haven't figured out what the Bar Numbers (parts) is for yet in left column.)

If all else fails, create in bar 1 a system text which displays top centered, and edit it to read
\$PageNum\
Right click context menu gives you options to display the text only in the parts and not in the score.
Hans, that did the trick for page numbers. In multiple part appearance I simply check "do not show default page numbers" or whatever it is and then I created a new text style for the part page numbers.
Jeremy, that did it for bar numbers. I forget that when in parts view engraving rules effects the part, not the score.
Great, thanks all. You've answered all my questions.
A final question, is there a way to import text styles from score to score? i read that this is possible in sib 5 onwards. I would like to use all of the settings for text styles I created in this score on future scores (including the new text styles I created) and for other composers scores I do copyist work on. Isi this possible?
Thanks!

To import text styles, simply export the house style from the score that has your custom text styles in it, and then import them into your future scores via House Style > Import House Style.
