I want the last section of a piece to repeat and the I want a DC al Fine. But it seems that the DC al Fine knocks out the last repeat. Very confusing! The relevant score is attached.

Yes, unfortunately, repeats are ignored in Da Capo sections and there are no preferences to set. This subject turns up every now and then. Sibelius is aware, but I'm not sure if this is on the wish list for the coming version.

Well I'm amazed this hasn't already been addressed. When I think of all the exotic things Sibelius can do and then a simple everyday task like this which must come up all the time, and Sibelius flunks it! It surely has to be at the top of the wish list.

You can't say this is « simple » unless you know all about the informatics. (There are some other « simple » things, which seem to cause infinite trouble to the specialists in London.)

Actually, I think Richard's problem concerns the failure of the last repeat to play the first time through. The D.C. al Fine is overriding the final end-repeat barline.

This is a rather annoying glitch to work around. You need to create an extra bar after the repeat and attach the D.C. to its end. Use the Bars properties to hide the bar rest, and put in a hidden MM like q=1000 to skip over it quickly. Then drag its barline back until it coincides with the repeat barline.

If you want repeats taken during the D.C., set the end-repeat barlines to play on passes 1 and 3. This only works if you don't use 1st and 2nd endings, which, luckily, you don't here.

Has this playback concern of a DC/DS overriding an end-repeat barline been addressed in Sibelius v6?

I need the contray action, where an end-repeat barline is active until all repeats have been played before the DC/DS triggers.

Hi there

Yes. You have the ability to specify exactly any repeat structure you like in version 6, over-riding Sibelius's default settings. This is done by specifying bar-number ranges.
