Is there any way I can import a TEXT font that doesn't exist in the choices available in the properties windows. I want to use a font called "FOOTLIGHT MT LIGHT" (for my titles) which doesn't show up as an option in the TEXT window of properties. Is it possible to add text fonts to Sibelius or are we stuck with what we've got? How would I go about adding them. I'd appreciate any help whatsoever.

If the font shows up in other programs, it should show up in the list of
fonts in the Text panel of Properties and in Edit Text Styles. Check to
see whether it perhaps appears under a different name, elsewhere in the
alphabetical list.

Sorry Rob,

For some reason, I don't have this font. I checked everywhere to no avail. Would I be able to import it from the internet and add it into Sibelius?

Hey Daniel,

Thanks for the response. You're right. All the fonts in other programs also exist in Sibelius. But, I also have a CD-ROM with over 1000 fonts and I would like to import some of them so that I can use them. Do you know of any way to go about importing other fonts? I appreciate your help.

In Windows, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Fonts. You can drag the font file into this folder if you use XP or Vista.

On Mac, go to User/Library/Fonts and to the same.

It's good advice not to go overboard installing fonts as this will slow your system down. You can browse the fonts to see what they look like before they are installed using the following programs:

Windows: The Font Thing ( http://members[dot]ozemail[dot]com[dot]au/~scef/tft[dot]html )

Mac: Font Doc ( http://www[dot]freemacware[dot]com/fontdoc/ )

Footlight MT Light is a Monotype Corp font (hence the MT in the name!)

FWIW the actual file name on my system is ftltlt.ttf. The Windows fonts directory is "clever" and lists the font names, but if it's anywhere else like on a CD you will only see the file names.

My copy was probably distributed with some software package, but I can't remember what package. You can buy it from http://www.fonts.com/findfonts/mondosearchresults.htm?st=12&kid=footlight if it's not on your CD.
